Spanish clarinettist Hugo Rodriguez began clarinet lessons in Madrid and Salamanca and later moved to Germany, where he studied at the HfM Franz Liszt Weimar with Prof. Martin Spangenberg from 2007 to 2011.

He was a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, an academist with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin from 2012-2014 and principal clarinettist with the Vogtland Philharmonie Greiz/Reichenbach from 2014-2016.

After his chamber music master studies at the UdK Berlin with the Artemis Quartet and as a scholarship holder of the Villa-Musica Foundation, he successfully performs at chamber music and modern music festivals as well as soloist with various orchestras and ensembles.
In 2022 his first solo CD recording “Clarinet in Exile” will be released.

Hugo currently lives and works in Berlin, where he plays with various symphony and opera orchestras such as the Komische Oper Berlin, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin or the Kammerakademie Potsdam.
He is also a sought-after teacher and places great emphasis on classical music education, for example with his ensemble IMAGINAria or projects such as the MusicLab of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.
Hugo also gives master classes and coaches youth orchestras. These activities have taken him to various countries such as Spain, Germany, Russia, Lebanon, China, India and Peru.
